Hi,

Today I got my PC back from a repair/upgrades shop and I got a new case.
There is a knob at the front of it, but the guy said he couldn't connect it
up to something (my soundcard I think he said) because he didn't have the
'book' for it. What's that knob for exactly? My sound works fine, so is it
just another way to turn the volume up and down perhaps?

Regards,

IF it hooks up to the sound card, yes it is probably a
volume knob. It would be easiest for you to find your case
online and give us a link to it.

If you can gain access to the (PCB or pins on the
potentiometer from the back) rear components behind this
knob, we might be able to assist you in getting it
connected. A detailed description of the mechanical (or
solder/crimp/whatever) pins used may be necessary. IF it's
using pins and sockets then you'll have to look up the
pinouts in your motherboard manual and case manual.

Did the repair shop mean they didnt' have the book for the
case or the motherboard? I presume the case does have an
audio output jack on the front?

Didn't have a book for the soundcard I think he meant. Here's a link to the
case:

I was hoping the case link would provide some kind of data
on the knob but I didn't see anything... but then I had the
flash animations disabled so maybe I just missed it.

Anyway, the motherboard or sound pinout should be easier to
find online anyway. What board or sound card? Basically
we need "all" the information you can possibly dig up... in
other words, if I had the two sitting in front of me I could
do it, but walking you through it without the info... a bit
harder.
