Yeah it is good advice however in the years I have been building PC's never used one.

Been brought up before I think, nice to get reminders tho ;)
 
I use a wrist strap every time i open the computer up, only a cheap one from eBuyer clearance sale, looks alright and my computer hasn't fried yet.
 
Yeah if the power lead is left in and switched off and the case is steel or aluminium then you are already earthed as soon as you touch it
