Does anyone have any opinions on whether PC Booster is a good problem
for Windows XP? My own opinion is no, but I'm wondering if anyone
else has actually noticed any transparent improvements in the
performance or reliability of their system after using this program.

TIA

Crap like that may have helped with Windows 95. It is not needed, or useful,
under Windows XP.

don't you think the guys at microsoft would not already
have all the best speed things built-in in their OS?
Usually worthless unless you're an absolute PC novice.

Not necessarily, because every system is different -- performance
tweaks that work on one system may not work on another. But Microsoft
would -- and does -- make available information for individual users
to tweak particular settings to make their particular systems run
faster or more reliable. That's why I ultimately agree that such
software often does more harm than good. The best course is to
acquire the necessary knowledge to tweak your system on your own --
and then tweak it on your own. It's also much more fun that way. :)
