Are you sure there is an "inf" file in the directory you are pointing
windows to. It is the inf file that carries the driver information. If there
is definately an inf file where you are pointing Windows to then you
probably have the wrong driver. Make sure it is a WinXP driver. Try
downloading another driver from the manufacturer. Also you could try using
one of Windows generic drivers. I think there is a 56k generic driver in
the drivers list under standard drivers. If it installs it will give you
basic modem data features, not fax or voice. If it installs then the driver
you are trying to install but can't must be wrong. If it doesn't install
then you might have a problem with your modem itself. You could also try
some of the other drivers as most are very similar. I use a motorola driver
for my wisecom modem without any problems.
