Hi all,
This is the 1st time I post an help request in this forum
so please don't flame me if I post in the wrong newsgroup.
Here is my concern:
We have a network build as follow:
Windows 2000 Domain.
DNS server bind 8.2.3 hosted on SUSE Linux server 7.2
DHCP server hosted on the server above with dynamic DNS
updates.
Windows NT 4.0 WS SP6a clients
Windows 2000 PRO SP4 clients
All clients are P-Node without any WINS server.
We are working only using DNS adress resolution.
Here is what happens:
In all cases NT 4 workstations are working smoothly.
When we do "NET USE * \\HOST.DOMAIN.DNS\SHARE" or "NET USE
* \\ALIAS.DOMAIN.DNS\SHARE" from W2K client all is fine
too.
When we do "NET USE * \\COMPUTER\SHARE" or "NET USE *
\\ALIAS\SHARE" from W2K client it works immediatly but
after a random lap of time, it fails to connect again
send "System error 51 has occurred.
The remote computer was not available. "
The only way to connect again is to flush the DNS cache
with "ipconfig /flushdns"
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot
