Pause animation

I'm using custom animations to animate a chart and I'd like to be able to
pause the animation and then resume, is there a way to do this? I'm using
PowerPoint 2007 but will probably save the file as 2003.

Thanks, I was hoping that there might be a pause show function built into PPT
that I could use without creating macros, is there anything available?

My issue isn't with creating the macros, but rather with having macros in a
file that I would want to share, I don't want to have to worry about security
settings, etc. I guess I was hoping there might be some magic keyboard
shortcut that would pause the presentation....

In fact, you just have to copy and paste the macro.

Can you set some of the chart animations to "on click" instead of automatic?
Then you can just click when you're ready to resume.

Add an animation (like a wipe) to the chart, then double-click the animation
in the pane and go to the Chart Animations tab. Set your grouping to the
appropriate setting (probably "by element in series" or something). Close
the dialog.

Then double-click the downward-pointing chevron just below the chart
animation in the pane. Select ONE of the elements and change it to "on
click" at the top of the animation pane.

Yes, I'm currently using this method. What I'd like to do is actually pause
the animation like in mid "wipe".

Ahhhhh. Then Jean-Pierre's suggestion is it, I think.

I've just had a play around trying to pause a slide show graph mid-wipe

I found if I press any of the number keys along the top row of the keyboard
(e.g. 2) my chart would pause mid show.

cheers

Bizarre, but useful...I've found that on Powerpoint 2010 most of the key numbers pause an animation and some letters restart it. E.g. press '6' to pause an animation and then 'Y' to restart it. Keep pressing as many times as you like.

PS. I'm finding it very helpful when you've using an animation to simulate a complex model and I need to get my head round timings and interaction of the model.
