I'm trying to send a fax from a hotel room. How do I ensert a pause after the
"9" before the phone number is dialed? I've tried a comma, two commas and a
dozen commas (after the 9) and it doesn't change how the prefix/number is
dialed.

I can dial the prefix+number fine manually, but when trying to use the fax,
there is no pause in the sequence and I get a "deedle deedle" error tone.

I'm using WinXPPro on a Dell Inspiron 6000.

TIA,

You may need to dial the 9 manually, then dial the fax number with the
laptop.
Hotels have all kinds of different phone systems that behave differently.
Fax programs are even worse.
Usually, there are modem command string options availabel that can change
dial timing.
