Bargain Patriot 2GB PC2-6400 C4 Extreme Performance (2x1GB)

Not only is it a good price, its excellent stuff too

I'm going to write to my MP complaining that they are selling it too cheap . Its got to be contravening some trading law or other .

:p

I'm thinking of buying some of this, but I'm looking for some advice. When the memory timings are stated as 4-4-4-12, does that mean that's the lowest it can go when overclocking, or does it mean that that is the standard settings and the latencies can be made to go lower if you are overclocking.

That will be ther reccomended speeds, probably set by SPD. you may need to slacken them off if your overclocking but not a lot, 5-5-5-15 maybe?

DDR2 is all about the speed rather than timings so dont worry too much. :)

What is the difference between slackening them off and tightening them up - because on an overclocking tutorial I read it tells you to tighten them up - making the numbers smaller?

Which is the correct way round if you want to achieve faster speeds?

Tightening gives them a faster speed overall.

By increasing the voltage to the RAM etc, i'm running mine at the recommended timings now.
