For certain files, I prefer to use an older version of
Visual Slick Editor. I gave these "certain files" the
suffix "vse". Because of a file association, I could
simply double click any of them to reach Visual editor.
UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN I HAD TO RELOAD WINDOWS.
My history file is an example...
C:\Documents and Settings\Charles Cashion\keep\history.vse
Now when I double click that file, three windows open
(1) C:\
(2) C:\Documents
(3) C:\Documents and Settings\Charles Cashion\keep\and
Anybody recognize this problem? Anybody know how to fix it?
Charles

perhaps you can find
that the file type association
has been modified to open
those windows.

go to my computer
tools, folder options
then file types.

you should find your
custom extension with
some commands that may
explain what your are
experiencing.

I have found the file types tab.
Thank you for the suggestion.
I have tried every button.
Something is wrong that I have not seen before.
I was hoping that somebody recognized it.

well, just to be sure we are
on the same page; if you
scroll down the listing
of extensions you should
find vse.

then by opening it up, you
should then see a window
where commands are inputted,
like "open"

however the window may be
blank as well or the window
may have additional commands
listed.

in any case, what you want
to see in that windows is
just the "open" command.

then the open command should
be targeting that program
you want to use for opening
the files with the extension vse.

however, if the open command is
still not functioning then
you should simply delete the
vse extension and create it again.

---------------------

there is also a listing of extensions
inside the registry as well, so perhaps
deleting those keys can help.

then of course you have the options
to reinstall that special software
again or do a system restore to
a point before the issue started.

out of curiosity i looked up that
extension and it is used by other
programs. but i think if you had
inadvertently installed any new
software having the acronym of
vse, you would have realized the
conflict by now...
