There is a tool that you can download from MS website for
scanning a range of IP Addresses to look for unpatched
Windows 2000 computers(tool name:kb823980scan.exe), then
you can either automate the patch installation process
remotely or visit every single pc to install the patch. My
question is: after installing the KB 823980 patch and ran
the address scan, everything showed as patched properly. I
then received a message from MS about a new patch named:
KB 824146 and that users should immediately run this
patch. After installing this patch on all pc's, I then ran
the remote scan tool again (tool name:kb823980scan.exe) it
reported that all of my machines were "unpatched" as far
as it was concerned.
Is this just a glitch or did the second patch install
nullify the first patch install ?
