I downloaded xp patches into my XP Professional system.
Will this create any problems. Is so, what should I do?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Is is XP as opposed
to XP Professional?

If so, no, you've done nothing wrong and it won't cause any
problems.

There is no *plain* XP; Windows XP comes in two versions: XP Home
and XP Professional. All patches pertain to both versions.

Ken is right for the most part. There are some patches that apply to XP Pro that are absolutely useless in XP Home. The only suggestion I would make to you is that when updating XP you should only use the Microsoft site to do so and then it's best to let the V4 engine do it's thing and it will only pick updates and patches specific to your OS. If these are patches for games and other programs then whether it's for home or pro really won't cause any harm or conflicts to your system. XP is very robust and will ignore registry entries it doesn't recognize as being correct or in the right format. Have fun. {:~)
