I'm running Windows 2000 Pro. It updated itself to SP4 the other day (or
rather, I LET it update itself). Norton LiveUpdate no longer works. I
tried re-loading the Norton software but... no luck.

I went out to Symantec's website said they no longer support versionis
earlier than 2003. This hacks me off as, two months ago, they were
perfectly willing to take my money for a year's license for the virus
definition updates. Now they're saying, essentially, "tough luck, chump."

Does anyone have an e-mail address for symantec customer service? I can
understand that they don't want to support the older software. But I DO
want to apply for a refund of the license fee if they're not going to
provide the updates I need.

TIA

There was some link about Norton and SP4 not working together, if SP4
was applied after Norton. You could take the Win 2K install CD and
Upgrade over itself, which will not hurt anything. But it will remove the
SP4 and then you could uninstall and reisntall Norton and then apply the
SP4 again.

You should search Google to find this information.

You might also be able to download the latest version of liveupdate from
this site: http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/files/lu/lu.html and install
that. It may fix your problem, however I havn't tried it (make sure u
keep details of your last subscription renewal in case it happens to
overwrite it, or some other problem occurs).

I posted about this over in alt.comp.virus yesterday. It's not at all
clear to me what Symantec supports, just for subscription renewals. I
found pages saying 6.0 and before, 2000 and before, 2001 and before,
and pages where I could buy subscriptions for 2001.
