I installed the patch just a few days ago. Now I have
problems with some links...
I have some links I use to access a password protected
program and I now get only an IE saying link not found.
Also I have to type in the www in URLs now and did not
need that previously.
Is there some way to remove this patch as it is causing me
a lot of unneeded work?

Hi Aron

The technical details section of the following describes one of the changes
made.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS
04-004.asp

More specifically,

"The following URL syntax is no longer supported in Internet Explorer or
Windows Explorer after you install this software update:
http(s)://username:password@server/resource.ext"

If you are trying to use URLs of that form, that will be why you're having
difficulties.

I'm not aware of any problems with entering the "www" component. Are you
sure that the sites where you have to type www required you to do this
before? This is a function of the site's DNS records rather than a function
of your browser.

Rather than uninstalling the update (which patches several other
vulnerabilities), take a look at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834489 if you really
feel the need to disable the new behaviour with regard to usernames in URLs.

Regards

Oli
