pasting from Word to FrontPage

I am taking text and photo layouts in Word format, then pasting them in
FrontPage 2003. Sometimes it works just fine, other times it scrambles
everything and I am unable to correct it. I also have the same problem when I
type in the text with borders and photos in the desigh mode, but when I
switch to the preview mode I find my work scrambled as before...when I did it
as a copy and paste. Should I be doing all of this in the Notepad mode as
recommended in other posts? I also see a recommendation to use CCS...what is
that please? I have taken over our Church website, and am just trying to
input the data as I get it. Sometimes all goes well, other time I get the
scramble problem...which I do not understand.
