Paste Special with Operations doesn't work on links

I'm using Excel 2003 on Win 2000 and Win XP. I've found that Paste Special
doesn't work in certain situations. For example: Say I have two workbooks,
Book1 and Book2. Cell A1 in Book1 has in it "=Sheet!A2". If I go to Book2
and copy any cell with a value, such as 1, and go back to Book1 and Paste
Special Add to cell A1, the result is "=([Book2]Sheet!A2)+1". It is supposed
to be "=(Sheet!A2)+1".

If the Paste Special Add is repeated, Excel crashes. If the link is to the
workbook from which the cell is being copied, Excel crashes.

Paste Special with Operations works fine on values, formulas, and
references. Anything with a "!", it has the problems.

Is the problem with my installation? Is this a bug? Or a feature?

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric
I have the same problem (Excel 2002-SP3 W/ Windows SP PRO SP 2)
The problems started after download the SP3
Did you found a solution?
( please do not see my english, it is bad!)
Thanks,
JM.

I do not have a solution. I am on Excel SP1.

I hate this because I frequently need to step numbers and external links up
or down by a factor of 1,000. Anybody who works with money in whole dollars,
thousands, and millions sees this all the time!
