paste chart from Excel

Shawn

When I paste a chart from Excel to PowerPoint the chart is
distorted. For example, the legend is huge and covers up
a good portion of the graph. I use the paste
special/picture option of pasting.

A few weeks ago all was fine but not things are
distorted. This only happens on a my PC. Other PCs in
the office paste the chart without the distortion.

My version of Excel is 9.0.6926 SP-3 (others in the office
have the same version).

Any ideas what is going wrong?

Not sure if this will fix it or not, but it won't hurt to try.

Go to Tools/Options and uncheck new charts take on PPT font.

Naw, that's not going to work; you're pasting as a picture, not as a
chart, right? What font are you using in the Excel chart? What size is
it? What zoom level are you at in Excel when you copy the chart?

Also, what version of PPT are you using? And do you have a local printer
driver installed (as described at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm )?

Echo,

Thank you for your reply to my question posted on the
PowerPoint newsgroup.

Here are my answers to the questions you posed to me.

1. Go to Tools/Options and uncheck new charts take on PPT
font.
did not work (just like you said)

2. You're pasting as a picture, not as a chart, right?
yes, as a picture

3. What font are you using in the Excel chart? What size
is it?
mostly Arial, regular, 14; but not always and the
distortion occurs with all font sizes.

4. What zoom level are you at in Excel when you copy the
chart?
64% so the entire chart is visible on the screen in Excel

5. Also, what version of PPT are you using?
PowerPoint 2000 SP-3 (9.0.6620)

6. And do you have a local printer driver installed (as
described at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm )?
No local printer driver. Various network printers are
installed (just like the PC of my colleague--where things
are fine).

Many thanks for your time and assistance.

Well, nuts, I'm stumped, then.

This will seem a silly question, but do the other users have the same
version of Windows that you do? I'm wondering if this has anything to do
with the clipboard size thingamajig described at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00068.htm , although that's a real
long shot.

Hey, all you other newsgroupies out there -- any of you have any ideas?
