A musician has accused the DVLA of discrimination after his driving licence photo was rejected because of the "religious" head-gear he was wearing - a colander.

Ian Harris, 51, is a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster- a "religion" also known as Pastafarianism, that regards colanders as sacred head-wear.

Mr Harris has lodged a third appeal against the DVLA after it refused to accept the picture of him wearing the kitchen-utensil in his driving licence photo.

His so-called faith, which is widely considered as legitimate, is a light-hearted view of religion which opposes the teaching of creationism and intelligent design.

It believes Fridays are national holidays, pirates were the original "pastafarians" and that beer should be celebrated

The religion argues that belief in a flying spaghetti monster is just as valid as any other - although critics claim it is just a parody religion.

Alan Rickman died today and you post this 'news' rather than that!? I am disappoint. :(

What are you against religon and the different cultures that life has?
Would you prefer the site to be all doom & gloom and only what you say?
Would that be more of a dictatorship where only one or two rule?

What the hell are you on about?!

There are general things on this forum we all abide by.

Two of which are avoiding discussing religion and another is no swearing as there's no age limit here so kids can participate.

Mr Feckit, you've already rankled me with your fat b*****d thread and now you're asking a forum member if they're against organised religion. That, imo, is provocative and could lead to ill feelings.

Therefore I propose to my fellow mods and admins that we delete this thread, I'll leave it to somebody else to do but if we're voting then you have my 'aye' vote.

I thought that this thread was highly amusing till I got halfway down.

Pity it's all degenerated. :(

IT WAS A LIGHT HEARTED LOOK UNTIL V_R DECIDED TO GET NASTY OVER IT AND QUESTION IT ALL.
DO I QUESTION SOME OF HIS POSTS NO, BUT HE FEELS AS A MOD HE CAN DO WHAT HE LIKES.
BIT LIKE A DICTATERSHIP AND WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT GOES. DONT BOTHER PRESSING ANY BUTTONS OR BANNING ME AS I AM OFF. V_R CAN DO ONE AS CAN THE REST OF YOU FOR SHOWING HOW A BIT OF FUN CAN GO SO WRONG WHEN YOU DONT LIKE HUMOUR!!

A SAD DAY AS I HAVE BEEN A FORUM USER FOR NEAR ON 9 YEARS.
IAN, PLEASE DELETE MY DETAILS.
TO THOSE THAT ARE KNID NICE & LOYAL GOODBYE IT WAS NICE KNOWING YOU
TO THE REST OF YOU, DO ONE!!!

Well that escalated quickly.

Ok, When I said...

...It was supposed to be somewhat light hearted. Maybe this will help: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/son-i-am-disappoint

Clearly the wrong end of the stick has been got hold of.

As for the whole dictatorship nonsense in post #6, I think my reply was quite clear, I have no idea what you're on about.

You take things way too personally in my opinion Feckit.

Shame this has gone a bit south, that wasn't my intention. I know I have a bit of a dry sense of humour and can be a bit sarcastic at times and that probably doesn't come out too well on a forum, but I assumed we were all adult enough to 'get' it.... I guess not.

*Note to self, must use more smilies.

Just a suggestion... but maybe this is one of those occasions where it would REALLY, REALLY be beneficial if everybody just took three steps back... and slept on it.

Cooler, heads, prevail... and all that.

Sadly, I've had a message from Feckit asking for his account details to be removed - which is why his username has disappeared. It's sad to see such a longstanding member of the forum leave :(.
