Past items in customize notification area

Hi,
I would like to thank you in advance, "Thank You". I need to know how to get
rid of the past items that are in the customize notification area. I right
click the start button, click on properties, task bar tab, customize button,
this is where I see many old items in the past items section, I need to know
how I can get rid of the past items. The items that are presently in the
current items section are find. Please help me to figure out this issue.

Hello,
Thank You for your rapid response. I need to know where do I type
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify
" so I can follow the remaining instructions. I have searched for it in the
window explorer, but I don't know where it is, and I have pasted the path to
the run box but it will not show me anything, the search section says that it
is not a folder and it did not show it to me. Please help me.

Go to Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter.

notifications items if you are uncomfortable with

Hello,
I would just like to say thank you for helping me resolve my issue of past
items in the customize notification area, I used the
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm and it got rid of all the
past items. Once again thank you. I had programs that I unistalled, but the
funny things is that there icons were left in the past icon section, when I
uninstall it should disappear from all section but they still leave traces
everywhere which take up unecessary space. I wonder where else are these
unistalled programs hiding that are taking valuable space. If you know and
can tell me where they are and how to do delete them I would appreciate it.
