Passwords

I have some web sites that need the username and password typed infront of
webpage ie http://username:[email protected] I had windows 98 before
and had no problem Now I upgraded to windows xp Home Edition with SP2 every
time i go and use these passwords I get the messenge The Page cannot be
Displayed. Any way to make it work
