Hi All, can anyone, please anyone, tell me how to save user name and password
in Windows Mail. I have ticked the relevant boxes on numerous occasions but
with no luck.
Thanks Steve

Well, since Protected Storage is no longer used,, I guess you'll have to
remove the accounts, reboot and set up the accounts again. Before it was
failrly easy to do but not (apparently at the momment).

Did you do an upgrade to Vista or ws it already preinstalled?
Also, Home, Business or Ultimate edition?

The reason I'm asking is I've found out some companies such as Sony are not
supporting upgrades to Vista or even upgrades of Vista (Home to Ultimate).
I"m running into hard ware issues that when Ultimate is installed, some
things like the modem and sound card drivers are removed and there are not
any available drivers and may not be according to their tech support. Their
reasoning? They do not include Ultimate edition on any of their computers.
Not a fun thing to find out.

Which antivirus program are you running? Any other
third party security software?
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or Norton
security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled.
One of the symptoms of incompatibility is a corrupted password store.
Replace with a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Once that is done, if it still doesn't work, delete the corrupted account
and create it again from scratch.

That pretty well should have done it. If it'sa POP3 or IMAP and will check
and send mail correctly after entering the password, I'm at a lost in Vista.

About the only other thing I could think of would be close WinMail then move
(not copy) the message stores elsewhere.

Check for any occurance of Internet Account Manager or IAM in the registry
and see if you see any e-mail accounts in it, if so delete those keys as
well (only e-mail accounts!)

Let WinMail restart and build a new database as well. That way you know you
have removed all the account info.
