Hi,

I am posting my response again, hoping someone can help
me out so that outlook will save my email account
passwords....

Thanks Milly. That was close, I just could not find the
right article, as I am running Outlook 2000 SP-3, on
Windows XP, and Outlook 2000 nor XP were not mentioned.

Do you know where else I may find the info?

Thanks again,
Stuart

If you are still having problems after applying both the
SP 1 & 2 patches, then see if this article addresses your
problem.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer:
Stuart <[email protected]> asked:
| Hi,
|
| I have just loaded Outlook 2000 on this machine, and
have run all the service packs. I have two email
accounts, when I set them up, I clicked on save
passwords, and entered them. Every time I return to the
account setup screen, the password field is blank. When
I send/receive messages, it asks me for my password,
which I enter, and click save password.

For some reason, my password does not want to be saved.
What can I do?

Thank you,
Stuart

For all Outlook versions on Windows XP (note, this article is written for OE
but the solution applies to Outlook as well. Just ignore the parts that
refer to OE):

Help, that is the right document, thank you. I went
through it, have two keys under the line I was looking
for, can only delete one, the other gives me errors. I
can not rename it either. It will still not let me store
the password.

Can you help?

Diane Poremsky (Outlook MVP) suggests the following:

On the Security menu, click Permissions.

Click the registry key for the user that is currently logged on
and ensure that Read and Full Control are both set to Allow.

Click the Advanced button, ensure that user that is currently
logged on is selected, that Full Control is listed in the
Permissions column, and that This Key and Subkeys is
listed in the Apply to column.
