with windows ME or the such you can share folders and password protect them... i'd really like to do the same with some of my windows 2000 folders... i know about adding users and the such but this seems to be for specific computers... in my office people change desk on a daily basis, hence the need to allow access to all computers but with the addition of a password for some sensitive folders... any help would be much appreciated :-)

Windows 2000 (and XP and 2003) doesn't do password-protected folders. If
the folders are on a file server somewhere you should be able to restrict
access with NTFS file permissions. Another option is EFS, but please read
about it first and be sure to back up certificates and private keys if you
choose to use it - lots of people have lost data because they encrypted
files then re-installed the OS without backing up their keys first.
