We have a shared server within our business, and I would
like to protect my financial files from others that I use
the shared server for. Is there any way I can create a
password for those files? If so, please explain how I
can.

Thanks,

There is no password protection per se. However using ntfs file system will allow you
to set permissions on folders and files for users and groups. A user needs at least
"read" ntfs permission to view files in a folder, either as a user or a member of a
group such as the users or everyone group that has read permissions. Keep in mind
that weak passwords can allow unauthorized users to view unwanted data by guessing
another users password. Therefore ntfs permissions need to be used in concert with
good password policies including locking out users who try to guess another users
password after a set number of times - usually ten is a good start. Also any
administrator on a computer can also view files that he does not have direct
permission to. See link below for more info and use Windows help on your computer for
great info. Select index - folder permissions/applying. --- Steve
