passwords for a linked ODBC database

I have a A2K database that links to password protected ODBC tables. The
client does NOT want to have the users type those in even though the
database is password protected. Is there a way to put the UID and
password in a table or script somewhere so when they access the data it
will fill that information in automatically?

TIA

Can't you just use the "remember password" check box when you create the
link?

I never see any such prompt. I log into a seperate server for the data.

I use the MS driver for Oracle databases and when you use the "linked table"
menu item you're prompted for the Oracle logon credentials. If you supply
them correctly then you're presented with a list of tables and that's where
the "remember password" option is. I think the key thing here is to use the
MS driver, it certainly works for me.

I'm using third party software (Liant) that makes MicorFocus COBOL files
look like ODBC compliant tables... No such option.
