Password

Dale

I had a password set up under as an admin. My machine crashed and I had to
restore my machine. I am still unable to sign on as admin with the password
that I created before, but am unable to go into the explorer folders under
admin. The password was the same as the admin account. Will I be able to
find out what that password is. I have seen other discussions on password
issues, but did not know if they would apply here.

Password for what?
Your post is confusing, as you keep mentioning admin password, then explorer
folders.

I had an admin user set up, which had an admin password. I also had some
explorer folders set up under the admin directory which had the same password
as the admin folder had. The admin id still has the same password as it did
before. However, for some reason the explorer folders under the admin
directory no longer have the same password. Is there a way to reset the
explorer folder password?

I still cannot follow your explanation.
First of all, folders do not have passwords. Folders are owned by accounts.
Accounts have passwords.
And, there is no such thing as "admin password". An account which is a
member of the administrators group may have a password, but such password is
no different from any other password.

If, however, your reinstallation resulted in the explorer folders not being
owned by your administrative account, then you fix the problem as described
in the Help & Support article "How to take ownership of files and folders".

HI Dale,
Either you are having a problem accurately defining your situation,
OR, you have a 3rd party program installed that you don't realize and
haven't mentioned.
XP does not set passwords on Explorer or on the folders themselves.
So, no, there is no way to reset the explorer folder password at least
w'r to XP and if it's a 3rd party app not part of XP, no one knows what
it might be.

Perhaps if you gave some specific examples, including paths and account
names you signed into, someone could figure out what you mean. The
biggest problem is trying to relate to folder or explorer passwords;
there just isn't anything like that in XP.

After having to dismiss an employee for continued use of inappropriate
internet sites at our place of work, I have discovered that she has applied a
password to my internet filter set up, blocking all internet sites. I have
no idea what the password is, and I cannot now access any internet sites.

Since she has now left the state, is there anyway to get around or reset the
password?

You will need to contact the tech support for the Internet filter software.
