Contact the ex-employee and politely ask for the password.
Otherwise, you'll not be able to logon to that particular account.

He'll be able to log into the user's account if he uses ntpasswd,
changes the Administrator password to a blank, and then goes to the
User Account applet in Control Panel and changes the former employee's
account password there.

I would highly recommend the winxp key program, i locked myself out of a
customers pc, just the other day ,and this was like some amazing get out of
jail free card.

I prefer to use NTpass for the hack...I mean recovery. That application has
saved my bacon way to many times for me to remember.

I do have a questions however; it's still password related so I'll keep it
in this thread.

There is a computer in my dentist's office that about a dozen people use. I
remember hearing you can set it to automatically force them to change their
passwords on login. Remember that wonderful feature? Where did it go in XP
Pro? Is there a registry setting I need to change? Someone please help.

Thanks.

You can set this on a new user basis (one who hasn't logged in yet) by going
to Administrative Tools-Computer management-Users and Groups, right-clicking
on the User and selecting properties.
