Going from Windows 98 on LAN to Windows 2000 professional
98 machines ask for a password. This is a new problem
network was working fine untill last weekend 6/29/2003. An
easy way to reproduce problem, on 98 machine go to My
Network and click on a 2000 machines icon. The message is

You must supply a password to make this connection

Resource: \\NAME\IPC$

The only thing that has changed that I can think of is
Comcast(new cable company) sent down a program to forword
E-mail. They have recently bought out AT&T Broadband (old
cable company). As of 7/1/2003 Comcast had new transition
software downloaded onto our desktop to make transition
easier.

Thank You Jay

On the 2000 machine you need to create a user account that has the same
user name and password as the account used to login to your Windows 98
machine.
