Chris

Hi,
I have a problem and I was wondering if any of you
know how to fix it. I installed Microsoft AntiSpyware
Beta 1 on my computer over the weekend. It worked fine,
but then I changed the setting in the "System Agent
Checkpoints" and enabled

"Windows Password Protection"
Description: Helps prevent changes to your system that
allows a default password to be set.
DefaultPassword settings bypass the Windows NT Windows
2000, and Windows XP Logon prompt, and automatically
logon.

Well, after I did that when I tried to turn my computer
on it asked for a password the next time, I never set any
password so I have no idea what it is and now I can't get
into my computer. I tried just pressing "ok" with no
password and it doesn't except it, I also tried pressing
cancel, but that is not an option. Can someone please
help, I really apreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Chris-

The easiest way to take care of this (well, ok, I
shouldn't put it that way) is to remove the local
administrator's password from the machine.

This can be done a number of ways, but is risky business!

I am only recommending you do this on your HOME PC. Do
not EVER do this on a machine at school/work/whatever.

Go onto google, and look up NTPWC. You'll need to make a
bootable floppy disk, and print out the instructions.
Follow these to the very single letter!

Be REALLY careful with this tool. You risk totally
FUBARing the NTFS layout on your drive.

It works, but again - BE CAREFUL.
