She is the administrator. It is a stand alone computer
and when she set it up she did not write down the
password... Anything we can do for her?

Who is she? Is this in reply to some other post? What is this post? It's
sitting out here by itself all out of context. My guess is that this is a
reply the court clerk who cannot log on.

You don't have a backup administrator account? Lesson learned the hard way,
in my opinion then. THere are hacks out there for logging in to a computer
after forgetting the logon credentials for an admin account. I don't have a
link handy, but scour through this microsoft.public.win2000.general, and you
should find many posts about this with some decent links, as this issue
comes up half a dozen times a day.

I should probably start taking advantage of that "bookmarking" feature in
Internet Explorer some day.

She is the administrator. Who are you? And/or why is an administrative job
(figuring out how to unscrew what was screwed up using an administrator
account) left to someone else to do for the administrator?

If she is the junior admin and you the senior, I would have suggested a
re-install and that she answer the question for herself: what can she do to
make sure to not let this happen again. She might learn more that way than
having someone else save her bacon.

Oops, just saw the other thread about the court clerk. Now the question
becomes: "why does a non-IT person have admin privileges, and why are they
allowed to install the O/S?"
