A system password has been somehow disabled, meaning that cannot gain
access to the pc past the first password. Old password does not work.
Help needed urgently.

Disabled or you just don't know it?
Operating system in question? (XP Home, Pro, etc?)

Carey Frisch [MVP] may answer with:
Lost, Forgotten, or Expired Passwords:

You have a few other options as well..

Hack your password:

Another:

Now - what you may have wished you had done:

How to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is not a
domain member in Windows XP

Of course, you would have had to create that diskette AHEAD of time.

It depends on what you mean by "system password". If this is a BIOS
password which you must enter before even booting the operating system,
consult your motherboard manual. There may be a jumper setting to reset
the BIOS. If not, then remove the motherboard battery and let it sit
for a while, like a few hours or overnight. This will put the BIOS back
to the default settings, which means no password.

If you are talking about a Windows password, post back.

If you truly mean the system password for the operating system then it can
not be disabled but it may have been changed using the syskey command. When
exactly do you enter the first password - before Windows starts up?? Do you
see the Windows logon screen for the user? --- Steve

http://thelazyadmin.com/index.php?/archives/105-Using-Syskey-to-Secure-Your-Systems.html
--- info on Syskey
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ --- this can reset user and
syskey password but if you reset syskey password syskey can not be used
again to protect the computer per author's warning.
