Password/user access problem

I have a front-end application and a back-end database; users are assigned to
groups; all security is set at the group level. Normally, when I add a new
user, we immediately create a password for the user and all is fine. I have
ONE new user who, about half the time, gets a "not a valid account" error at
login. The only way I have been able to correct the problem was to go into
the back-end database and set her password there as well. In addition, if I
log on at my computer using her logon ID and password, it works properly all
the time. She's joined the proper workgroup; she's a member of the proper
security group; I've tried resetting her password; nothing works. I don't
know what else to check to find the problem. Can someone point me in the
right direction? TIA.

The last time I had a similar issue, it was a sticky key on the keyboard.

You might get her to try it several times and count the number of asterisks
you see.

Or, have her type her password over and over in Word and see if it skips one
of the characters often.

Low tech answer, but very likely the problem.
