After using Windows XP on my laptop for over a year, it suddenly required a password when I turned it on yesterday. I have never had passwords on this machine before, and have no clue what the password might be. Any idea what might have caused this, and how I can correct it?

Hi Ken,

Go to Start > Run and type 'control userpasswords2' without the
quotation marks, press enter

At the top, uncheck where it says 'users must log on.'

Hope this helps.

Hi Ken,

I would try going into 'Safe Mode'. You should then be able to access the 'administrator' account. When asked for a password,
hit <Enter>. Once you are in Windows, go to [Start] > {Run} and type 'control usrepasswords2'. You can reset your password or
chose how you want to log into your primary account.
