Hi there!
My husband uses Windows 2000 at work and is able to do something that we
can't figure out on our home XP. He has the screensaver set to come on at 5
minutes and at that time, it requires a password to 'reenter' Windows. We
figured out how to do that here at home. However, he also has a 'button' on
his toolbar (I'm not sure in which position) that he can click if he's
getting up and leaving, thus not wanting to wait the 5 minutes for the
screensaver to kick in.
Is it possible to put a screensaver 'button' on XP?
Thanks much for your time!

I meant to add that, somewhere here in the Discussion Group for XP, I saw a
comment that lead me to believe that A) making this button is possible, but
B) it sounded like if I were to click on it to make a screensaver
automatically start, not waiting for the 5 minutes, that it would NOT turn on
the password part, which kinda defeats the point!
Can anyone verify this? Thanks again!

This is called "locking" the computer. There are a couple of ways to do
this (for example, the "Windows logo" key and "L" pressed simultaneously

Have a look here for instructions on making a shortcut that does this:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314969 You can then put this icon
anywhere you like...

You can create a shortcut with
"%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation" in the
target field, and then place it on the Quick Launch Bar.

Thank you so much, both of you! It did JUST what I wanted it to do! Windows!
Imagine that! I need to rush out and buy a lottery ticket.... ;)
