Password screen after exiting screensaver

I previously had my screensaver set up so that when came back to my computer
a small password screen would display in the centre of the screen. However,
since downloading updates on the microsoft update site I am taken back to the
logon screen after exiting the screensaver. Is there any way to get the old
password screen back?
