What does the message box say when it pops up and
asks for your password? The more detail the better.

Outlook 2002 won't remember the passwords upon exiting.
I've downloaded all the updates as suggested. I've
changed the registry as suggested in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;264672 but that didn't fix the problem. Any
suggestions?

The standard "enter network password" box opens. It
lists the server name, user name and asks for the
password, which I type in, then I check the "save this
password" box and it will receive. To send, you have to
enter tools, email accounts, change, more settings,
outgoing server and insert another password. I'm running
Windows XP Pro and Outlook 2002 on a brand new machine.
I've downloaded all the updates for the software and
changed the registry. Any suggestions?

I've got the same problem, but I have not applied any
changes to the system yet. It will just not retain the
passwords, or even let me enable the 'retain password'
box in outlook. I had this same problem upon initial
installation of outlook. I thought the reg edit worked
that last time.
