I am experiencing the strangest thing on my domain (W2K
SP3 AD with XP SP1 clients). A number of users experience
the following:
- Get reminded that their password is expiring in 10 days,
and asked if they want to change it
- User changes password SUCCESSFULLY
- On login the next day, they are notified that their
password is expiring in 9 days, and are again asked if
they want to change it.
- No matter how often the user changes their password each
day they are reminded that their password will expire in n-
1 days.
- When the 'countdown' gets to zero days it disappears,
and users are able to login as normal.
Relevant GPO settings as follows:
Enforce password history - 18 passwords remembered
Maximum password age - 60 days
Minimum password age - 0 days
Minimum password length - 7 characters
Passwords must meet complexity requirements - Disabled
Store password using reversible encryption for all users
in the domain - Disabled
Account lockout duration - 9999 minutes
Account lockout threshold - 3 invalid logon attempts
Any help much appreciated.
