I am trying to access a Pentium 4 Desktop machine running
Windows 2000 with a new Toshiba laptop running XP. Access
is impeded by a screen asking for a Name and password.
The fields in this password request screen are blank,
there is no default response. The replaced laptop runing
98SE never asked for a name and password. I can access
the XP laptop's files from the Win2k desk top without a
name and password.

Thanks for all your past help. I wouldn't be this far
without you.

Create a user account on the Windows 2000 computer with the same user
name and password that you use to log onto XP.
