I'm trying to keep certain people who use my computers off of the internet.
We have DSL and are currently using IE6. Is there any easy way to password
protect the program so only certain people can use the internet without
permission?

vetadmin,
Without installing a Windows server and implimenting security measures
through Active Directory you have only a few choices. There are several third
party applications available that will limit users access to the interent.
Many of these are applications designed to be used in Internet Cafe's.

I have a similar problem with one of my clients, he wants to password
protect the browser from being used in his production area. Do you
know of any of these products?

Thanks

Ron

I was thinking about this more and the easist way is to use a Linksys
firewall router on your network. Assign the PC's static IP addresses and then
specify the in the Advanced | Filters | Filtered Private IP Range This should
work for you. This can be defeated with a little knowledge of IP addresses,
but should not be defeated by normal users. Especially if you tighten up the
available IP address range, turn off DHCP and set static IP addresses for
each PC.

As for password protection products, I don't know any off hand. I have
looked at a few in the past but with a little research I'm sure you can find
a few. Try Zdnet or software and reviews.

I need to explaine a little better. The fellow that uses the computer
needs Internet access it the rest of the people in the shop we don't
want to have access.

Thanks

Ron
