password protecting a web or subweb

Great instructions..but...when I went to publish, it said I did not have
permission to publish to that site...used my usual login and
password....groan.

1) the instructions tell you that you must create the subweb and it's unique permissions on the live hosted online site in FP
(not on your local PC to publish to the remote live site)
2) your host must support subwebs and unique permissions (many don't)
