I have a Vista Home Premium based laptop and a Vista Home Premium based
desktop on a home network. Networking seems to work fine except that Laptop
can only access the shared folders on (and the printer connected to) the
desktop after provision of a user name and password even though "Password
Protected Sharing" is "Off" on both computers.

Has anybody else experienced this and if so found a solution?

Thanks Robert L - that seemed to do the trick. Just seems odd that you need
to do this with Pasword Protected Sharing Off.
