I've read a lot of the threads for password protecting page(s) using FP 2003
but they all seem to assume a Windows host. What if I'm on a Unix host? Any
way to password-protect a page that way?

Thanks,
Beverly

You would need to locate a PHP login application, you might want to check with your host to see if
they offer any solutions.

Does your hosting account have the web masters CPanel??

If so, create a new empty folder on your machine in FrontPage and publish it to your web.
Then log on to CPanel and go to the "Web protect" section and
password protect the new folder and assign ( create ) the user name and password.

Then in FrontPage create the content you want in this new folder and publish it
to the server.

Steve,

But does that allow you to create user account or to just set permission on a folder?

Hi Thomas,

The procedure I listed is just for password protecting a folder and its contents.

Which I think is what the op wants to do.

Then you provide the users you want to access pages in that folder the
username and password and only they have access to those pages. I use that
for a "Members Only" page that contains club member's phone numbers and
e-mail addresses.

Ok...
