Hello all - have a question:
I have a password protected Excel file that does not contain any
macros that was working fine when I saved and closed it before lunch.
However, now when I open it, I am prompted for my password, and after
entering it, Excel crashes without ever displaying the file. Needless
to say, this sucks!
I am using Office 2000 SR-1 with all the service packs (Excel version
9.0.6926 SP-3).
On Windows XP, I get the "Send error report" prompt, which doesn't
give me real detailed info on what caused the problem. Excel crashes
with this file after I click "Don't send" for the error report.
On Windows 2000, I Excel simply vanishes after I type in the password.
Arrgh!
Both machines have the latest updates for both operating system and
Norton AntiVirus. No viruses are present on the machine.
I can open other Excel files just fine.
This may or may not matter but the last major operation I did in Excel
was adding another worksheet to my workbook file and then entering
data on it. I have over a dozen worksheets in the workbook (perhaps
closer to two dozen), but the file itself is only 200K.
I hope this is enough info for someone to help me out!
Thanks in advance,
Dr. Dave
