Does anyone know if it is possible to "defeat" the password protection
on a document created with MS Word 2000?

I have a document that I want to put on a website that needs to be
protected but I know the document can be downloaded from the site thus
giving anyone the opportunity to save the document to their own pc &
hack it as they see fit. If I have a password on the document can
someone still open find a way of opening and reading the document
without knowing the password?

Thanks for the help,

Tink

Sure, there are professional password crackers out there who have the
computing grunt to overcome any simple password protection.

There's also nothing to stop a "trusted" person from opening the document
and making an unprotected copy.
