I password protect all of my work at home, but cannot open
a particular document using the password I always use.
I'll keep trying various typo versions but is there
another way to get past this? I am the administrator on
our computer (there are 2 users). This is in Word 2002.

The encryption in Word is suitably impressive to make password protection
effective. There are password crackers out there, but for passwords of more
than four characters, they could turn out both expensive and time
consuming - and have the disadvantage that you are giving credit card
information to someone who cracks passwords :(

Brute force password crackers can take weeks of processing on a PC to
identify the password.

If you wish to pursue the cracking option, there is one such cracker linked
from the favourites page on my web site, but I make no recommendation for it
and you must use it entirely at your own risk.

Thanks--I'll pass. I don't know enough to fix things if
the 'cracker' does something weird. The document has been
printed--this is just my archival system. If no one needs
another copy, I'm golden. I appreciate your advice,
though.
