Is it possible to protect windows backups with a password ?
And if no, how can I restrict my tape backup so I can restore it only on my
server ?

Thanks,

Michael

To raise my security level is there something I can do to protect my data
(e.g. if someone steals my tapes) ?
Can I protect the tape with a password, encrypt the data or something else
so that the tape cannot be restored on another server ?

Thanks
Michael

I have only experience with the built in Windows backup and Ghost. I believe
there are backup solutions that involve encryption but I can not recommend one
because I have not tried one. If files are EFS encrypted via W2K, they can be
backed up in the encrypted state and unless the corresponding EFS private
user/recovery agent key is on the computer where the files are restored, the
files will not be able to be decrypted. If you decide to try such, be sure to
test out the backup/restore process to be sure it works for you and keep your
private decryption key backups separate from your media backups. --- Steve
