Password protect using printer

Is there a way I can password protect my printer so that if someone
needs to print to it, they need to have a password? The printer is in my
room but I don't want just anyone printing to it when they feel like.
Using Win XP Pro with Epson R200 printer.

The printer itself or through the operating system (such as Windows
File and Print Sharing) or 3rd party networking software (Novell still
in the business?)?

If it is the former I haven't got a clue.

I rarely deal with XP of any flavor & would dump Wincrash Me if I
could find a suitable Linux distro for my needs (power user & a decent
GUI without aggravating nuisance thrills that just eat memory such as
animated everything, wallpaper, etc.)

If the latter look up "Windows File and Print Sharing" in the OS help
or try a more suitable newsgroup. For Windows issues there is a
microsoft.public heirarchy.

Microsoft has a news server msnews.microsoft.com
 
When you are finished, just remove the cartridges, and put each of them in a
ziplock bag, until they are needed again.

You could setup user accounts. Yours having admin privelages and a
general account that does not have the printer installed and no
privelages of installing software so no one can install drivers needed
to run the printer..

Then I bet they will just get a laptop and plug your printer into it,
LOL
