I have found out I cannot trust my son with my computer, so I want to
password protect my computer to keep anyone but myself from accessing it. I
don't feel guilty because he has a very nice computer of his own. He just
can't keep his hands off my computer.

What is the best way of doing this? I am running XP Home with SP-1
installed. Will installing SP-2 undo this?

Thank you.

Ken

Have you considered using a BIOS password in the setup screen? This can
often be disabled by removing a jumper, but it might work if your son does
not know about that fact.

If you do a bios password theres a way to flash bios. Make sure if you get up
and leave the room for more then 20 seconds (which is how long flashing bios
takes with the keystoke time) that your son dosent get in the room other wise
he can flash bios and remove the password. I did it on my parents compter ^_^

What would you (the OP) do if he were driving your car without your
permission?
