password protect for share folder

Hello!
I have one problem.
We use WinXP in workgroups, not in domain.
On 1st computer, let's call PC1, I made a share folder and I want it t
be accessable for some users, not for everyone.

Please help me.

If you have XP Pro, make a new user group and only put those users in it
who will need to access the folder. Don't forget to include yourself
and Administrator. Then set the permissions on the folder accordingly.

Thanks.
I found out that I don't have option for setting the permissions. On
some computers it has, on some there's no such option. Usually when I
set up the sharing there's also "Security" Tab menu, where I could
setup permission. But I don't have it on my PC...

Like Win2K, WinXP's file security paradigm doesn't rely on, or
allow, the cumbersome method of password protection for individual
applications, files, or folders. Instead, it uses the superior method
of explicitly assigning file/folder permissions to individual users
and/or groups.

Of course, if you have WinXP Pro, you can encrypt the desired
files/folders.

As a crude work-around, if you actually prefer Win9x's way, you
can place the file in a compressed folder, and set a password to
uncompress the folder to view/access its contents. Also, some
applications allow the user to password-protect their specific data
files. Read the specific application's Help files for further
information on this capability.

The folder I want to share for certian users is on NTFS partition. When
I set up sharing I don't still see Security tab. Reading Troubleshooting
gave me nothing. :-(
Yes, I'm using WindowsXP Pro.
I'm still trying to find out what's wrong with my system...

Did you disable simple file sharing?? Go to Windows Explorer/tools/folder
options/view and uncheck the last option for use simple file sharing. ---

Oh my God!
I don't remember what I exactly did. But I did something wrong in the
Security tab, that I became unable to enter the folder (from the
computer where the folder is) I wanted to make it accessible for
certian people. I was popped out with warning that only owner can do
sharing. Then I entered the system as administrator and make it
accessible locally but still can't enter the folders and files are in.
Does it mean that the owner of the folders and the files is different
from one who created the top folder? Please help - how can I enter the
folder and open the files as before. :-(
