Hi All,

What is the best freeware password program to keep track of passwords? The
password file should be automatically encrypted when exiting the program.

Thanx,
Keybored

1. Depends
2. Pricelessware & Oubliette
3. AI Roboform
4. Google acf ng
5. Password Scrambler (onepassword), Autoform, etc.

Depends upon what features are most important to you, your browser
choice, and whether this is for personal use.

http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/PL2003SECURITY.htmy offers 3
choices: PINs, Whisper, and Password Safe.

Also see Oubliette at almost any freeware archive site (or
www.sourceforge.net).
I found the interface cramped, especially for home use, but emphasis
is on security and it is open source.

Also see AI Roboforms. IIRC limited to 20 passwords now or use old
version per Pricelessware link for Desktop Auto-complete Tool.

Several threads have run on this topic. Google ng archive for acf.

I've been investigating several one-password one-click password
managers that generate a unique password for each site based on the
site name and either your security configuration and/or a password.
You don't even necessarily know or care what the password is except
for backup. The names of several others like these escape me but see
for example:

Password Scrambler (an IE plug-in) at www.onepassword.com

Autoform (open source/GPL) at http://vinylrecord.tripod.com/autoform/

I'm particularly curious what others think about Password Scrambler
and similar utilities.

Yeah - I have tried a lot and "Any Password" came out on top

Vote #3 for Any Password, we might be able to make it Pricelessware
if we keep this up. ;o)
I see there is a new version out-

Version 1.31 - October 3, 2003
Changes:
"Find next" command
"Hide on copy" option
Paste buttons removed
Small interface bug fixed
