When I had a problem with my computer last week,(it
showed the CD wasn't present) I went to reboot bios. When
I hit the delete button when starting my computer it
asked me for my password.
I remember putting in a password when I first got my
computer because I didn't relize everything was already
to go.
The instructions that came with my computer said to go
into bios to set computer. To make long story short, I
set a password and now that a long time has passed, I
don't remember it.
Since I didn't know the password last week I had to
delete and reinstall XP.
I would like to delete the password option or at least
change it so if I have a problem again I won't have to
redo all of Windows XP again and lose everything.
Is there anyway to do it? I can not contact my computer
company because the 1 year time limit is up. (next time
I'll go with a computer company that gives a life-time
service)

Sounds like you are talking about the BIOS password which then lets you
enter the BIOS screens or lets you continue the bootup process. Don't use
passwords you cannot remember.

Clear the CMOS. See your motherboard or computer manual for information on
how to clear CMOS. If you changed any settings in CMOS, after clearing
CMOS, you'll have to set them again.

Jamie,
The best advice I can suggest to follow the Scientists approach is to keep a
pocket sized notebook, beside the computer, in a safe spot, where you keep a
log of how, where, when, & why, you did things in the computer. Sounds
tedious, but when you first get the computer, there are many things to
remember, but cant be recalled a few days later on, let alone months
afterwards. Works for me.
Year 2003 diaries are pretty cheap now, and I have put one away.
When the next time 2003 comes around all the Lottery results for 2003 are
in it, so I am sure to win them all (joke).

Rob.
